2008 Olympics gold medallist Abhinav Bindra led the way as capturing fraternity paid out homage to previous India shooter Pournima Zanane who handed away lately right after a tough-fought struggle with Cancer.
The 42-calendar year-old, who was a nationwide file holder in 10m air rifle party, represented the region at several ISSF Earth Cups, Asian Championships and other gatherings. Later on on, following retiring in 2012, she took to coaching and was also honoured with the Shiv Chhatrapati Athletics award by the Maharashtra federal government.

“Deeply shocked and distressed by the news of premature demise of an outdated close friend Pournima Zanane. She was an international shooter and ISSF coach. Our friendship goes back again to junior group days.. But we will meet up with someday, somewhere again,” reported veteran shooter Joydeep Karmakar on Twitter.

“RIP Pournima. You will be considerably skipped,” said Bindra whilst responding to Karmakar’s tweet.
“We cannot believe that that you are no lengthier with us. This is a tragedy for us, we will pray for you dear mate Pournima Zanane. Relaxation in peace,” claimed Jaspal Rana.
Former Indian shooter Suma Shirur reported: “Pournima Zanane’s premature departure from the entire world is extremely unfortunate news. As a colleague & competitor, her power & enthusiasm to do issues regardless of a prolonged disease will generally be remembered! My teammate in the Railways, we received numerous medals jointly the two national & intercontinental.”
