Ekta Kapoor is on fire for an episode of XXX’s Army show

There are some areas where it is not advisable to cross the line in Indian space when it comes to content. For years and generations, it was like that. When OTT platforms reached India on a large scale, content creators assumed that there would be more creative freedom, less censorship. However, at every step there are still unwritten rules of the game that do not sound in streaming modes.

ALT Balaji’s showXXX recently released an episode of ‘Pair or Plastic’, where in a scene where the wife of an army soldier has an affair while her husband is on duty, she finds her boyfriend wearing her husband’s uniform. This particular episode offended many who believed that it was disrespectful to the Indian Army and portrayed them in a bad light at first glance.

Ekta Kapoor, the producer of the show Bikash Pathak and Bollywood producer Ekta Kapoor, known as Hajir Hindustani Bhai, became a contestant of Bigg Boss. He went so far as to file a police complaint against them. He called it “anti-national” and demanded action against the culprits.

Now the #ALTBalaji_Insults_Army trend on Twitter is showing that Ekta Kapoor is demanding an apology from the people, calling the creator to promote the content and allowing the platform to keep abusive content in the Indian Army.

Many ceremonies, episodes of ceremonies such as thin people, smiling faces etc. have found themselves in all legal troubles. In this new form of online government censorship, almost no OTT platform has escaped the wrath of the Internet. What ground reality proves is not under consideration or perhaps we are living a new kind of ground real life. The time has come to take cautious action on behalf of OTT platforms, lest we lose any medium that was meant to be powerful.
