In a touching incident, a group of Bajrang Dal activists destroyed a set of Tovino Thomas’ upcoming film Minal Murali. Activists of the Hindutva organization have alleged that the makers of the Malayalam film made a set of a church in front of the Shiva temple in Kaladi.
Akhil Hindu Parishad (AHP) state general secretary Hari Polode confirmed the news of the destruction of church sets.
Saffron terrorism is on the rise?
Hari Palod also shared a picture of the destroyed church on his Facebook page after the shooting set was broken. Palod revealed that EHP had warned several times that they would not build such a church on Kaladi, as there is a Shiva temple nearby.
“When they built such a structure in front of Lord Shiva in Kaladi, we asked them to remove it. We also made several complaints. We don’t always have the habit of begging, so we decided to break the decision. I” All the Bajrangs who took part in this effort Praise the staff of the team, ”Hari Palode wrote on his Facebook page.
The creators of Minal Murali set up the church a few months ago, but due to a coronavirus lockdown, they were unable to carry out the shooting as planned. In the movie, Tovino Thomas will be seen playing the role of a local superhero.
The brotherhood of the film condemns this performance
Soon after the incident, Basal Joseph, the director of Minal Murali, wrote an emotional note on his Facebook page and made it clear that the Bajrang Dal workers had shattered the dreams of many people working in the film.
“I don’t know what to say at the moment. For some people it may be a joke or a troll. For some it may be politics. But for us it was a dream. The producer spent a huge amount of money to make this kind of set. And we had all the permission to make it.
As news of this unfortunate incident spread online, multiple directors, including Vinith Srinivasan, Gemini Manuel Thomas and Ashiq Abu, have stepped up support for Basil Joseph and the crew.
