Jean-Philippe Gbamin transfer claim hands Everton January conundrum
It’s fair to say that Jean-Philippe’s time at Everton has certainly not gone to plan up to this point, writes Adam Jones.
The midfielder has been hugely unlucky for the majority of his time on Merseyside thus far, suffering from a long stretch of injuries which have severely limited his time on the pitch.
Just as he seemingly makes his return and is finally ready to make an impact on the side once more, a separate issue crops up and rules him out again for a set period of time.
Even this term, having recovered from the long-term issues that kept him absent from the majority of his first two campaigns with the Blues, he has still struggled to make an impact thus far.
Again, injuries and other absences have been a factor – with a tooth abscess and a thigh issue being the latest pair of problems to cause the 25-year-old to miss club football.
But that’s not stopping some reports linking him with a potential move away from the club, as soon as the January transfer window in fact.
According to Turkish publication Takvim, Fenerbahce are reportedly interested in bringing Gbamin to the club in the winter – potentially lining up a bid for both the Everton man and Spurs star Ryan Sessegnon.
While the rumour is just that at the minute at the very least, it raises an interesting conundrum for both the player and the club.
