One GoFundMe page Started by George Floyd’s sister raised about .5 9.5 million
“On May 25, 2020, my life was shattered when I learned of the tragic death of my dear brother George,” Floyd’s sibling Filoniz Floyd wrote on a page created five days ago.
“Now that my infamous and horrific video is spreading rapidly on social media, my family and I have seen it in absolute panic. What we saw on that tape stunned us; A white Minneapolis police officer knelt directly at my brother’s neck, blocking his ability to breathe.
“Some officers knelt at his neck, other officers watched in part; No one took any action to save my brother’s life. “Officers will continue to brutally treat my brother until he dies,” he wrote.
“This fund was established to support funeral and burial expenses, emotional and bereavement counseling, accommodation and travel for all court activities and to help our family continue to seek justice for George in the days to come,” Sister said. “A portion of this fund will also go to the Estate of George Floyd for the convenience and care of her children and their educational funds.”
The page’s 1.5 1.5 million target is total by Tuesday afternoon. Thanks to the 366,000 donors who contributed 9,496,420 easily surpassed.
The funds were managed by the office of family lawyer Ben Krump.
