The Queen was forced to miss church as she rested on doctors’ advice, according to reports.

Her Majesty had been due at All Saints Chapel in Windsor but was said to have missed the service.

It is believed she is saving her energy for the COP26 eco-summit in Glasgow which she is due to attend next Monday.

This comes after the Monarch was forced to spend the night in hospital following admission for precautionary tests earlier in the week.

The 95-year-old also cancelled a planned trip to Northern Ireland.

Royal author Angela Levin told The Sun : “I am delighted she did not go to church because she is perhaps listening and agreeing to temporarily step back.

“Going to church on a Sunday sounds just a small event but it is a very big thing for the Queen and for any woman of her age.

“She is very religious and it is very important personally for her to go to church every Sunday.”

But Ms Levin said the trip is exhausting and deemed it sensible for the Queen to miss the service so she can do more in the future.

Last night Buckingham Palace sources did not dispute the report the Queen had missed church saying she had been told to rest.

After her hospital visit earlier this week, a Palace spokesperson said: “Following medical advice to rest for a few days, The Queen attended hospital on Wednesday afternoon for some preliminary investigations, returning to Windsor Castle at lunchtime today, and remains in good spirits.”

Royal doctors were said to be acting with an “understandably cautious approach”, with one source stating the Queen’s overnight stay was due to “practical reasons” owing to the 26 mile journey back to Windsor Castle.
