The protests now seem ‘different’

It may not be October, but Yankees legend Reggie Jackson is still making strong statements.

At Jackson A. Social media post on Saturday He described his feelings after taking part in a Monterey, California protest this week in response to George Floyd’s death. This is his unbridged post:

“It simply came to our notice then.

“I saw a leather-colored rainbow in the crowd in my town on the Protest Walk in Monterey a few days ago.

“It simply came to our notice then. What my heart needed made me feel like others could feel it.

“I was a trainer in the sixties. I’m living it!

“It simply came to our notice then. And they are with me. It made me laugh, gave me hope.

“I could hear Jim Brown say,‘ We need the power of the white man to make the changes we need. ”

“Yeah !!! Maybe in the end

“It simply came to our notice then.

“We all wear the same uniform. Then why don’t we have the best players in our team. We need to be the best in the team. We can do our best.

“We need different people with different cultures, thoughts, ideas, ideals, different lifestyles and experiences involved, if we can become the best we can be.

“Being involved in sports, we have a lot of teammates, players and people to make us champions.

“I’ve had five championship experiences as a player, plus I’ve had five (10) World Championships while working with the Yankees since I retired, when I was an” owner’s mentor. “It was easy to see the whole company seem to be our best. .

“We need to participate at a higher level to contribute to this new direction, I hope it can happen.

“I’m looking forward to witnessing these changes.”
