He was a coachable kid with a big heart
After high school, head basketball coach George Walker hired Floyd to play for him at South Florida State College in Avon Park, Florida. Floyd was a student there from 1993 to 1995, Walker told CNN.
“He didn’t bother me too much as a basketball coach,” Walker said. “He was a pretty good athlete, averaging 12 to 14 points per game.”
According to Walker’s wife Gloria, Floyd was a coaching child with a big heart.
Of all the college athletes on the school team, he said Floyd paid the most attention to him “because he’s just a fun person to be around.”
“He never tried to blame others for his own mistakes,” he said. “He always deserved them and always tried to do better.”
He was trying to be a better father
He According to friend and former NBA player Stephen Jackson, he moved to Minnesota to work and drive trucks.
Jackson, a native of Houston, calls Floyd his twin calls
Jackson told CNN’s Poppy Harlow on Thursday, “I’ve heard George more than I’ve ever heard in my entire life and we’ve had a 21-plus (year) relationship. His name is always Floyd, my twin.”
According to Jackson, Floyd was known in the community as a protector and supplier who did not have disgusting bones in his body. Jackson said he went with everyone and rarely wanted anything in return for helping someone.

Once Floyd moved to Minnesota, Jackson said that Floyd spoke great about his journey to create better opportunities for himself.
“The last time I spoke to him was about a year ago, and every conversation we had that year was about improving ourselves and being a better father,” Jackson said. “That’s what he said.”

“I want justice for her children,” she said. “I want her kids to be taken care of. Their father is not here.”
Jackson promised to support his friend’s kids and “meet for Floyd” and said he wanted to make sure they did.
In Houston, Rose Hudson, who dated Floyd more than 20 years ago, told CNN-approved KTR that she and Floyd have a daughter, who is now the mother of a son.
“My daughter saw her father murdered on live TV,” Hudson said.
According to Hudson, Floyd did not see his 3-year-old granddaughter.
“I’ll just let him know what a great guy he was,” he said. “He was a good father to his daughters. I only have memories, that’s all I can give him, memories of his grandfather.”
Floyd worked as a security guard for five years at the Conga Latin Bistro in Minneapolis, according to its owner, Giovanni Thunstrom.
Although he was an employee of Thunstrom, the pair were also friends.
“He was loved by all my employees and my clients,” Thanstrom told CNN.
According to Thunstrom, Floyd will help clean up after the bar closes and “was a very good guy to customers and was really good”.
“He stood up for the people, he was there when the people went down, he liked the people who were thrown out,” Floyd’s other half told Courtney Ross W.C. “We prayed over every meal. If we had a very hard time, we would have prayed if we had a good time.”
