President Trump on Monday pressured the Democratic governor of North Carolina to “guarantee” that he would grant “full power” to the Republican National Convention this summer, leaning on the economic shock that Charlotte would suffer if the event took place elsewhere.
“I love the Great State of North Carolina so much, so I insisted on holding a Republican National Conference in Charlotte at the end of August. Unfortunately, the Democrat governor, ায়কRaiCupernC is still in a shutdown mood and cannot guarantee that we will have a full attendance at the arena by August, ”the president said. Wrote on Twitter.
Trump said Republicans should “immediately respond to the governor as to whether the space should be fully occupied. If not, we will inadvertently be forced to look for another Republican National Convention site with the work and economic development that it brings.”
“It simply came to our notice then. Thanks, and I love the people of North Carolina! “Trump continued,” he said.
He said the RNC would spend millions of dollars “to build a high-profile arena, whether the Democrat governor will allow the Republican Party to take full place. Thousands of enthusiastic Republicans and others plan to travel to beautiful North Carolina in August.”
North Carolina entered the second phase of plans to reopen Friday, with Governor Roy Cooper describing it as a “modest” approach.
Cooper’s executive order replaced the “stay-at-home” guidelines with co-stay-home orders, Charlotte News and Observer Report.
Episode 3 is not scheduled to begin until February 26th.
The conference is scheduled to take place in Charlotte from August 24 to August 2.
