President Trump on Sunday night claimed the rationale he was not briefed on Russia’s alleged bounty to the Taliban to eliminate US forces in Afghanistan is since intelligence officials did not locate the report credible.
“Intel just reported to me that they did not locate this info credible, and thus did not report it to me or @VP,” the president tweeted.
“Possibly a further fabricated Russia Hoax, maybe by the Faux Information @nytimesbooks, seeking to make Republicans glance bad!!!”
Earlier Sunday, the president backed up White Property promises that he and Pence were being unaware of the alleged bounty.
The New York Instances described on the bounties Friday and claimed the president was created knowledgeable of the predicament and talked about it in late March with the White House’s Countrywide Safety Council.
The report claimed many selections were weighed — which includes sanctions and a grievance to be built via diplomatic channel — but the White Home had nonetheless to authorize any reaction.
White Dwelling push secretary Kayleigh McEnany and Director of National Intelligence John Ratcliffe introduced statements on Saturday saying that Trump and Pence had not been briefed.
McEnany’s statement commented on the “inaccuracy of The New York Instances story erroneously suggesting that President Trump was briefed on this subject.”
