US opens investigation into airbags in 30 million motor vehicles: report

A U.S. auto security agency opened an investigation into around 30 million motor vehicles over feasible defective airbag inflators on Friday, affecting around 20 automakers, Reuters reported, citing a authorities document it reviewed.

The vehicles, with design years from 2001 and 2019, could have potentially defective air bag inflators that ended up made by Takata Corporation, in accordance to the National Highway Site visitors Safety Administration, which opened up an investigation into the afflicted vehicles, according to Reuters.

The news wire noted the probe had not but been publicized but the company has notified the corporations.
