Wajid Khan’s advice to singer Moin Sabri who has become a hairstylist

Sajid-Wajid’s cousin Hair stylist-singer-musician Moin Sobri has said that he has lost an older brother in the death of Bollywood composer-pair Sajid-Wajid’s Wajid Khan.

Wajid Khan died at the age of 42 on Monday morning. “I lost an older brother. His father Sharafat Ali Khan was a great tabla player and master. I used to worship him. When I came to Mumbai, Sajid-Wajid brother was my only connection here,” said Moin.

“I remember brother Wajid always telling me – ‘work hard and sing so well that people come to you, and you don’t have to go to people for work.’ Both brothers are amazingly talented musicians. I never asked.” The singer said, “Once Rahat Fateh Ali Khan was in India and I asked Wajid Bhai if he could meet me with my idol.”

Moin spent some time in the hospital with his ailing cousin. “I went to the hospital where I admitted him and sang for him. I’m sorry I couldn’t work with him.”

But he will always remember his Wajid brother “a great man who was always happy and had a smiling face”. “He’s always been helpful to people. He’s gone soon. He was there to give his music listeners a lot more,” Moin said.
